Listen To Your Body. It Says A Lot!

Have you ever noticed that sometimes you just want to stretch this way or that way? A very specific pull here or there? Or turn your neck, twist your back or raise your arms overhead because it just feels good? "Not quite like 'this,' but definitely like 'this'"? There's not really a reason or rationale for your actions, it just seems like that's what you're supposed to do, right?

DLS Dysfunction and Running Injuries

The Deep Longitudinal Sub-system (DLS) Is a group of muscles that work together to help stabilize the foot and pelvis during the gait cycle. Dysfunction of this system can lead to many different running-related injuries such as peroneal tendonitis, hamstrings strains, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, IT-band syndrome, knee pain, sacro-iliac joint dysfunction and even lower back pain. Is YOUR DLS functioning properly?

Hip Hinge

The hip hinge is crucial for all athletic endeavors. It not only reduces your risk of injury, but also provides you with a more stable core, allowing you to more effectively generate force. Practice this position daily and gain better awareness of a proper hinge at the hips central stability.

"Stuck" At A Desk Job?

Just because you're "stuck" at a desk job doesn't mean you can't get "unstuck" with a little bit of movement practice. You're only limited by your own creativity! Set a timer and start exploring your potential.

Monday Mobility 03.06.2017 Feed Your Feet!

Do you "feed" your feet? There's a reason we don't wear gloves on our hands all day every day, and it's the same reason we should be giving our feet a daily opportunity to get more sensory stimulation. Input drives output.

Monday Mobility 02.27.2017

Today we're going to explore stability of the neck and upper back coupled with basic rotation of the cervical spine. When we're not able to properly stabilize the cervical spine during movement, we are very susceptible to injury. How does YOUR neck feel as you progress through these movements?
